Washington, DC, USA-based indie rock band formed in 1997 by Christina Billotte (guitar/vocals/drums), Mira Billotte (drums/vocals/guitar), and Brendan Majewski (bass/vocals/drums). Christina Billotte was previously a member of the short-lived Autoclave alongside Mary Timony, before releasing several albums with the riot grrrl band Slant 6. Quixotic was quickly established as an outlet for Billotte's more acoustic leanings, with their debut Night For Day essaying a playful but messy fusion of garage rock and gothic styles. New bass player Mick Barr (ex-Orthrelm) made his debut on 2002's Mortal Mirror, the band's first recording for the Kill Rock Stars label. A more effective fusion of the band's diverse influences, the album included bizarre cover versions of Aaron Neville's "Tell It Like It Is" and Black Sabbath's "Lord Of This World".
