This ambient dance project was formed by UK musicians/producers Glenn Gregory (b. 16 May 1958, Sheffield, England) and Keith Lowndes. Gregory had previously enjoyed chart success in the 80s with the synthpop band Heaven 17, and had also worked with Tina Turner and Terence Trent D'Arby. Lowndes had worked with a host of credible 80s bands and artists such as PiL, Siouxsie And The Banshees, and Magazine, and had also built a reputation as a great party DJ. Before the creation of Honeyroot (the original name was rumoured to be Primrose Chill), Lowndes and Gregory had worked together on film scores and advertisements under the name Eskimo. The partnership proved very successful, and they received extensive coverage on US shows including Sex In The City and Ghost Whisperer. Their haunting version of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" featured in the final scene for the Cannes prize-winning film Red Road, and propelled the duo into yet another exciting arena. However, it was on holiday in Ibiza, while they sat and watched the famous sunset and listened to some Balearic music, that Honeyroot was born. As soon as they returned to London, Gregory and Lowndes went into the studio and produced their debut, Sound Echo Location. Released in 2003 on the Just Music label, the album was a sublime mixture of trip-hop and laid-back beats with vocals by Gregory, Angie Brown and many others. The genre-defying follow-up, The Sun Will Come, was released in 2007. This feel-good summer album was fˆted by the press alongside electronica classics such as Air's Moon Safari and R”yksopp's Melody A.M.
