Swedish indie rock band formed in 1995 by Joakim hlund (guitar/vocals), Csar Vidal (guitar/vocals), David Lindquist (bass) and Jens rjenheim (drums). They released records in Sweden under their original name of Caesars Palace, but were forced to adopt first the Twelve Caesars and then the Caesars for North American release because of the threat of legal action from the famous Las Vegas casino. The quartet's first release was the Shake It EP on Dolores Records in 1995. Their raw garage rock sound translated well to record and began to attract a cult following throughout Scandinavia, although it was not until 2000's Cherry Kicks that the band began to sell an appreciable number of records. This album also featured new drummer Nino Keller. The new quartet made a notable impact in Sweden with their 2002 release Love For The Streets, which included the hit single "Jerk It Out" and was awarded a Swedish Grammy for Album Of The Year. "Jerk It Out" was a minor international hit in 2003 and the same year saw the band extending their fanbase into countries including Japan, England and the USA. In 2004 "Jerk It Out", was co-opted as the theme song for Apple's iPod shuffle television advertisements. The increased exposure helped propel the song into the upper regions of the US and European charts. The 2005 album Paper Tigers, the band's first as the Caesars, ditched the garage rock charm of their earlier releases for a more polished power pop sound. The album was also the third release by the band to include "Jerk It Out".
