This Mexican pop band was formed in 2004 by actors Alfonso Herrera (b. Alfonso Herrera Rodriguez, 28 August 1983, Monterey, Mexico), Christian Ch vez (b. Jos Christian Ch vez Garza, 7 August 1983, Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico), Dulce Mar¡a (b. Dulce Mar¡a Espinoza Savi¤¢n, 6 December 1985, Mexico City, Mexico), Maite Perroni (b. Maite Perroni Beorlegui, 3 March 1983, Mexico City, Mexico), Anah¡ (b. Anah¡ Giovanna Puente Portillo, 14 May 1983, Mexico City, Mexico) and Christopher Uckermann (b. 21 October 1986, Mexico City, Mexico).
The three males and three females in the band had first collaborated together on the highly popular Mexican telenovela, Rebelde, which ran between October 2004 and June 2006. The runaway success of the show spawned a glut of multi-media offshoots, including RBD, with the sextet making their recording debut in late 2004 with a self-titled album for EMI Records. Featuring catchy Latin pop tracks written by Max di Carlo and DJ Kafka, the album spawned the Mexican number 1 hits "Rebelde", "Solo Qudate En Silencio" and "S lvame", and was a phenomenal sales success with teenagers throughout Latin America.
The following year brought further recordings with the live collection Tour Generaci¢n RBD En Vivo and the studio album Nuestro Amor. RBD also began making inroads into the North American market, leading to a US tour at the start of 2006 and the release of the group's English language recording debut Rebels, which featured material from their first two albums. Released a month beforehand, their third Spanish-language set Celestial outsold Rebels and broke into the US Top 20 in November. The following year the group embarked on a world tour and completed their fourth studio album, Empezar Desde Cero.
