The brief, shining career of the British girl group Atomic Kitten started in 1999 when former OMD leader Andy McClusky assembled a trio of young female vocalists to record his tuneful, glossy pop songs. A public in mourning for the recently defunct Spice Girls embraced their easy-going charm and bird-next-door sexiness, and their singles climbed high up the U.K. charts. The group called it quits in 2004 to pursue solo careers and other interests, but quickly made good on their vow to reunite occasionally for gigs and recording.
